Price history and charts

The Price history page is where you catch prices creeping up. It’s built entirely from your approved receipts, so the more invoices you scan, the sharper it gets. Managers and admins only, since it’s all costs.

The overview

Landing on the page, you see your whole basket at once:

• A few headline numbers: how many items are tracked, whether your basket is trending up or down, how many items rose vs. fell, and how many are outliers.
• A cost index chart. Everything is rebased to 100 at the start of the window, so one line shows whether your costs overall are climbing, holding, or easing off.
• Biggest increases and biggest decreases cards, so the movers that matter are right there.
• An outliers card for unusually large recent jumps, each linking straight to the receipt behind it.
• A recent price changes feed: date, item, old price to new price, vendor, and a link to the source receipt.

Use the window buttons (30d, 90d, 1y, All) to change the range.

One item over time

Pick an item and you get its own chart: the purchase price at each approved receipt, plotted over time, with a table underneath listing every change (date, unit price, the difference from the previous price, the vendor, and a link to the receipt). It’s the quickest way to answer “didn’t this used to be cheaper?” and to see which vendor moved. If more than one vendor supplies the item, you can filter to one.

Comparing vendors

For any item you buy from more than one vendor, the overview shows a vendor comparison: the latest price from each supplier side by side, with the cheapest one highlighted. It’s a fast check on whether you’re still buying from the right vendor, or paying more than you need to out of habit.

Keeping it useful

Price history only knows what your receipts tell it. If you enter costs by hand instead of scanning invoices, the trend line has less to go on. Scanning every delivery keeps this page honest and gives your recipe costs and food cost reports the same fresh prices.
